Exams to obtain the ppl license

In order to get your PPL, you will need to pass two exams to validate your theoretical knowledge and your flight skills, as well as a Language Proficiency Test in English if you want to fly in controlled airspace environment (e.g. Charleroi airport).

PPL Theoretical Exam

The PPL theoretical exam can be taken anytime once your theoretical training is completed, but within a maximum duration of 1 year after the end of the theoretical courses. You need to be approved by our flight school in order to take the exams. Sessions are organised by the civil aviation authorities all year long.
Multiple choice questions cover the 9 different subjects studied during the ground course. All the exams are computer-based and must be completed in one day. You initially take all subjects at once. You must score at least 75% in each subject to achieve a pass. In case you fail a subject, you can have three more attempts within a duration of maximum 18 months. Your theoretical certificate will be valid in any of the EASA countries.

PPL Skill Test

The PPL final exam in flight is taken with an examiner approved by the Belgian authorities (also possible with examiners approved by other authorities). During the flight test (2 hours in average), you have to demonstrate your ability to perform the relevant procedures and manoeuvres with a degree of competency and of safety appropriate to the privileges granted to the holder of a PPL. Our ATO will only recommend you for the test when we consider that you are ready. The PPL skill test shall be taken within two years after you pass the theoretical exams.

Caution! You must have passed all the theory exams before you can apply for the PPL skill test.

English Language Proficiency Test - FCL 055

You need to take an oral test in English with a dedicated Language Assessment Body (anywhere in the EU/EASA) in order to obtain the FCL 055. This certificate will allow you to fly anywhere in the world and is mandatory for pilots using controlled airspace in Belgium (e.g. Charleroi airport). We advise you to take this test at the very end of your flight training because the validity of this certificate is limited upon the level obtained at the test (from 5 years to valid for life).

WHAT'S NEXT ?

You now hold your private pilot licence! You can take passengers on board of any aircraft for which you are qualified, with a maximum certified weight of 5700kg. You may share your costs with your passengers, but you may not be remunerated as a pilot. For that you need a CPL (Commercial Pilot License).

Your licence enables you to fly any aircraft registered in the EU, anywhere in the world.

You can even go further with your training by adding new ratings on your license.
