We are all safely back in Charleroi! Thanks for following us during the whole trip. Next trip will be Africa in the end of October this year!

Thursday 4 July 2013

Strasbourg! This is the end, my friends….. Tomorrow, back to EBCI!

Wednesday 3 July 2013

Sabrina and Marcelo joined the crew today with an airline from Charleroi! Welcome to them! The group is tonight in Wiener Neustadt (LOAN), after a stop in Lake Balaton (LHSM), Hungary, before the navigation goes on tomorrow along the Danube River until its sources in Germany!

Tuesday 2 July 2013

Back to Bratislava (LZIB)! Tomorrow, crews are changing: two pilots are leaving us here and two others are joining us with the airline company Ryanair. No half-way stop today but a long flight from Osijek (LDOS) to Bratislava. Handling service in Osijek airport this morning was fantastic: efficient, pleasant and fast. It is a very general aviation friendly airfield! Our navigation of the day enabled us to follow the Danube River northbound along the border between Serbia and Croatia, cross eastwards the gorgeous Lake Balaton in Hungary (which is the largest lake in Europe…) and fly very close to the CTR of Budapest (the air controller did not sound very happy…) so we could see the famous Parliament of Budapest on the shores on the Danube River. Approaching Bratislava, we used the Slovakian own aeronautical alphabet to introduce ourselves on the frequency: “David Emile Gustav Lazlo Adam (DEGLA), good afternoon”! 😉

Monday 1 July 2013

We left Bucarest (LRBS) this morning to fly back to Western Europe. We are now in Osijek (LDOS), in Croatia, on the first day Croatia becomes officially part of the EU!

Saturday 29 June 2013

We are in Bucarest! It was a long day of flight yesterday, with a first leg between Gorna in Bulgaria and Constanta in Romania, for a customs and refuelling short stop. We have finally reached the Black Sea! After Constanta (LRCK), we took off northbound to fly over the wide Delta of the Danube river, final objective of our trip! We have brushed the Ukrainian border along the coastline of the Black Sea and then

reached Bucarest, just before sunset and just before storms. Sunday 30 June is a rest day in Bucarest. Marc is joining us tonight from Brussels….

Friday 28 June 2013

The objective of the day was to reach the non-certified grass airfield of Drobeta, still located in Romania, but close to the Bulgarian border, along the Danube river. A “fly-in” was organised there today and many different aircrafts and microlights from Romania and elsewhere in Europe were to gather today and tomorrow for the event on this airfield. We landed there just before noon, had a lovely lunch in a convivial atmosphere, and took off again in the beginning of the afternoon for Craiova (LRCV) for a short fuel stop only. Our final destination today was Gorna (LBGO) in Bulgaria as we decided to spend the night in the beautiful small city of Veliko Tarnovo, right in the heart of Bulgaria. Transilvania was not an option finally due to storms and bad weather conditions there. The airport of Gorna is very quiet, charming and extremely exotic for Western Europe pilots like us! As you can see from the pictures, sun and heat are now with us, no more shower rains and low cloud ceilings! We will try to post some videos tomorrow….

Thursday 27 June 2013

We are now in Timisoara (LRTR), in Romania for the first time! The objective tomorrow is to fly to the gorges of Danube in Dobreta and through the beautiful region of Transilvania….

Wednesday 26 June 2013

Landed in Belgrade (LYBE), capitale of Serbia! And the sunshine is now with us!

Tuesday 25 June 2013

We are now in Bratislava (LIZB). Before that, we stopped at the Blue Danube airport of Linz (LOWL) for lunch. Weather is a little bit better here in Slovakia but the conditions were very poor all along our route today.

Monday 24 June 2013

Our flying trip along the Blue Danube river started today with a first leg between Charleroi and the official sources of the Danube, in Donaueschingen (EDTD). After a short lunch break, we took off for Straubing (EDMS), following the Danube all way long. We stay in Regensburg tonight, a nice little medieval city on the shores of the Danube.
