Taildragger Experience

Enhance your piloting skills with the tailwheel qualification offered at Brussels Aviation School. Tailwheel aircraft, renowned for their historical significance and unique handling, require a distinct set of techniques compared to tricycle gear planes.

This training focuses on mastering:

  • Precise taxiing techniques, essential for controlling the aircraft’s inherent instability on the ground due to its rearward center of gravity.
  • Specific takeoff and landing skills, with particular attention to crosswind handling and directional control.
  • Enhanced maneuvering capabilities, refining your ability to handle challenging conditions and scenarios.

Obtaining this qualification opens the door to a variety of aircraft, from historic biplanes to modern light taildraggers, often used in aerobatics, bush flying, and operations on short or unpaved runways. Beyond its practical advantages, this training provides an opportunity to elevate your proficiency as a pilot and gain a deeper understanding of flight dynamics.

Our Piper Cub OO-ACK is available for training and rental, from Namur airfield.
